Ice Cream!

One of my favorite July 4th traditions is homemade ice cream. Strawberry. Sure, I am the ONLY member of this household that enjoys strawberry ice cream but we made it anyway. I like it a lot, so I'm sure I can handle all six quarts by myself...Anyone want some ice cream?

Let's do it the old fashioned way! The boys were such good helpers..They loved using the crank to turn the ice cream so much that they argued over it. We actually had to take turns hand cranking the ice cream maker!
Even Nathan wanted in on the action.
They were a little miffed when I put the electric motor on to finish the job.
They were REALLY surprised when we used this ice cream maker for the batch of chocolate ice cream. It was all too easy!
And boy was it YUMMY!!!
Long live traditions of homemade ice cream!!!

Oh we had ice cream too. Aunt Erin made it all. There wasn't any strawberry because mom wasn't there. Man Nathan looks like he is really grown up. I just can't believe it.

I'll eat strawberry ice cream with you any day. The next item on my wish list is a waffle iron to make homemade waffle cones (different from a regular waffle iron). I had some at a friend's house with homemade ice cream a couple months ago- it was to die for!!!

Mmmm, I love homemade ice cream. At Walmart, I found little packets of flavors for ice cream makers. I can't wait to try apple pie a-la-mode.

Yum! Homemade ice cream is a July 4th traditon for us too! Since we were going to be out of town this year, though, I made it earlier in the week when we had the missionaries over for dinner. It looks like you had a fun holiday too, and I'll make sure that my kids don't ever take anything away from Josh!

Homemade Ice Cream on the 4th is one of my favorite traditions as well. One of my favorite childhood memories is making ice cream and watching the fireworks from my Aunts house just off Bonanza a little east of eastern, not a neighborhood that I frequent now a days but back then it was fun and safe. I still make ice cream on the 4th but now it is at my mom's house. Ü
